What a Birth Preparation session involves

There are many different ways of preparing for your birth, and that can feel a little overwhelming. Do i choose my NHS classes? NCT? Hypnobirthing? Yoga? Do i listen to the advice of my friends and family? All these decisions and choices can mean we end up going against exactly what we need at that time which is the abilty to listen to ourselves and our babies...to tap into our intuition.

In the end, it doesn't matter what choices we make, as long as they are the ones that are right for us...and we will know that in our heart if we really listen.

Yoga is just one way to help us listen. To peel away all the layers of anxieties and concerns we may have surrounding our pregnancy and birth choices and as we look ahead to our role as parents.

Together, we will work with different postures, movements and breathing techniques that can help the birthing process, and how best our partner can support us physically and emotionally with them. I will give you both tangible techniques that you can practice together in your own time to find the ones that work best for you. We will also work with various relaxation techniques to help you to connect with your intuition, your baby and one another. Relaxation also helps to promote the hormone Oxytosin, which is vital in helping labour progress effectively, and we will go through ways to create an environment where you feel as relaxed as possible in order to increase your levels of this "love" hormone.

The sessions can be done in your own environment, where you feel safe and comfortable, or as part of a supportive group on one of my birth preparation weekends.

See them as a tool kit...even if just one or two techniques resonate with you, they might be just the things you need to help you on your way to that positive birth experience that you so deserve.

If you are interested in a session, please get in touch with me and we can have a chat about what you and your partner hope to get out of it. Sessions will always be tailored to an individual/groups needs and costs vary depending on those needs.
