Just as in your pregnancy, your newborn baby will react to how you are feeling. These classes will help to soothe your nervous system, in turn, relaxing baby and to give you a bit of time out for yourselves. We also work on gentle physical practices to strengthen the body and knit everything back together, as well as topping up any depleated energy supplies.
Working in small groups, these classes are also an opportunity for you to voice any queries and concerns that you may have in a supportive and non judgemental environment. We all understand that some days are easier than others and that we all hold insecurities and doubts about our ability as mothers...so this is a time to discuss that if you feel you want to, but equally to top up your batteries and make a few positive intentions to go forward with.
As you can imagine, a group with several babies and chatting mums, can be a bit unpredictable, so each session can vary immensly depending on how we are feeling.
Baby will be integrated in the class, but the focus is on the mother's needs.
This is a very relaxed environment, so if you need to feed that is fine, if baby is crying, no problem...and dont rush the end of a feed or a nap just to get here...if you are late, you are late!! Better than not coming at all!
This class is suitable from birth until your baby is around 16 weeks. These sessions can also be very helpful in healing any birth trauma that you may have experienced, but please contact me if you have any queries.
After 16 weeks, the focus moves from mum to baby. These classes will still incorporate elements of postnatal yoga for mum, but will focus predominantly on baby, using song, massage and movement to aid with baby's physical and cognitive development and to encourage bonding between parent and baby. It's lots of fun! Babies can then progress to the mobile baby group where the class becomes more interactive and we really let of some steam!
